Messenger QR Code

Messenger QR Code is an entry point for people to your chatbot. People who scan the QR code will go to your desired flow and subscribe to your chatbot. In this article, you discover what’s possible with Messenger QR Codes.

Here's a short video on how Messenger QR Code works:

We hope the video sheds some light on the Messenger QR Code feature. If that went a bit too fast for your taste, please see the rest of the article about the Messenger QR Code.

Messenger QR Code Features

With the Messenger QR Code feature, you can set up multiple (and various types of) scannable codes. It enables you to capture new subscribers and directly send a Flow when people become a subscriber. Messenger QR Codes can be scanned to instantly link the user to your bot, no typing is needed. They’re great for sticking on fliers, ads, or anywhere in the real world where you want people to try your bot.

Messenger QR Code Overview

Your adventure starts with the Messenger QR Code Library. All your Messenger QR Code(s) are stored in the table at Capture > Messenger QR Code. The table will be empty if it’s your first time setting up a Messenger QR Code. In the next section, you’ll get an overview of how the Messenger QR Code works.

1. Name

  • This is the name you give to your Messenger QR Code. It’s recommended to use a Name that helps you to find your Messenger QR Code back easily.

2. Actions

  • These are the actions you can perform on an individual Messenger QR Code, currently: Download, Edit, Rename, and Delete.

3. Size

  • This is the size (in pixels) of the Messenger QR Code

4. Drop Down menu

  • You can change the number of Messenger QR Code(s) you want to appear per page by clicking the drop-down in the right-upper corner. You can choose to show either 10, 25, 50, or 100 records per page.

5. Search

  • In the right-upper corner, you can also use the search field. Search terms are applied to all data in the table.

6. Next/Previous Page

  • In the bottom right corner, you can view the next page or previous page by clicking “next” or “previous”. This allows you to navigate through all your records.

How to perform Bulk Actions?

You can perform Bulk Actions by clicking the checkboxes – of the records you want to perform Bulk Actions on – in the first column. From there you perform Bulk Actions like “Delete”, by clicking the Bulk Actions button in the right-upper corner.

Messenger QR Code Preview

  • Clicking on any existing row in the table will open up the slider on the right. This shows your Messenger QR Code on top. And below it, depending on your selection, the flow, message, or Get Started button screen.

Select message type

Creating a new Messenger QR Code is really easy. Select the behavior after someone has scanned the code.

You got 3 options:

  • Send out a Message

  • Send out a Flow

  • Send out to the Get Started button

Specify Messenger QR Code size in pixels

After you’ve configured where you want to send people after they scan the code, you need to select the size of the Messenger QR Code.

  • Choosing a size is optional

    • If you don’t select a size it defaults to 300 px

    • Supported range: 300-2000 px.

You can preview your selection in the Flow Preview section (middle):

  • Make sure it's the message you'd like to send after people scan the QR code.

Generate Your Code

  • Once satisfied with your setup, click “Generate Code”.

This will generate your Messenger QR Code

  • This updates the preview

    • You can preview how your Messenger QR Code looks in the Messenger QR Code Preview section (last). In the image below you can see Clepher fetching data and creating the QR Code.

Then Save your Messenger QR Code:

  • Click Save in the top right corner in order to Save the QR code.

This will also do another thing:

  • This makes the download button active under the 3 dots next to the Save button

    • You can directly download the code from this page

    • Alternatively, you can download it from the Library page as well.

How do people scan the code?

Scanning a QR code works differently on iPhone and Android devices.

  • iPhone - iPhone users simply have to whip out their phone and go to Camera. Then they need to point the phone at the QR Code and make sure the QR Code is visible in the center square. When successfully scanned, a notification pops up, when this is clicked they get redirected to the message you specified.

  • Android - Android devices don't have a native QR scanner. They need an application, like Bixby, to scan the code. Provided they have a QR Code scanner, they need to point the phone at the QR Code and make sure the QR Code is visible in the scanner app. When successfully scanned, depending on the QR Scanner, either a notification pops up, when this is clicked they get redirected to the message you specified, or they are immediately redirected.

There is a Secret Facebook QR Scanner

Not a lot of people know this. But, the Facebook app on your phone actually has a QR scanner built-in! The good news is that this scanner works the same for both iPhone and Android devices. This basically means you can choose to educate all your subscribers on using the Facebook QR scanner when scanning a code... So you don't have to give a different explanation for iPhone and Android users. Here's a quick image of Facebook's native QR Code scanner: Image from iOS (5).png Here are the steps to get to the Facebook App QR Scanner: Open Facebook App In the search field, type: QR Scanner, and hit search. The first result is a Shortcut to QR Scanner Tap the Shortcut to QR Scanner This opens up the QR Scanner Point the scanner at the QR Code, and scan the QR code. You're automatically redirected to where the QR code is linking to.
